The Spartan torch then traveled to his older sister, Anna, who was a three-year letterwinner on the women’s basketball team from 2012-14, winning a Big Ten Championship. Then Morrissey would finally get his chance to represent Michigan State. He received an offer from Coach Dantonio to be a Michigan State Spartan. Against Purdue, he grabbed another interception and notched four tackles coming up big on back-to-back plays, first making a tackle on kickoff after MSU took a 23-13 lead, then ensuing play grabbing the interception to seal the victory and MSU ran out clock. He was named to the Pro Football Focus Big Ten Team of the Week for his performance against the Boilermakers. Morrissey also tallied three tackles at Penn State, along with a pass break-up on the final play, batting down PSUs Hail Mary attempt to seal the victory for MSU.
